On My Wishlist is a fun weekly event hosted by Book Chick City and runs every Saturday.

A long term resident of my wishlist is Stiff: The Curious Life of Human Cadavers by Mary Roach. I don’t know why I haven’t given in and bought it yet. It does crop up on ReadItSwapIt now and then but I always get declined. Unless it’s a hardback that I must read or a reference/photography book, I rarely spend more than a fiver on a book and it’s never gone under that magic number on Amazon. It’s all pyschological…

A recent addition is The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake by Aimee Bender. The title grabbed me but I have since read that the author dispenses with the use of quotation marks which is a pet peeve of mine, usually seen in translations of Portuguese fiction. I’m not sure if I can forgive a native English speaker for this but I will see how I feel when it’s released in paperback over here. However the author’s website is rather cute.

Ages ago I added a Karin Slaughter book to my wishlist on Amazon, The Recidivists and it disappeared completely from existence. A couple of weeks ago it just reappeared but there’s still no cover or release date. Has anyone got any info on this?

Technically not on my wishlist, as it’s pre-ordered and has passed into “dispatching soon” status, is The Gathering by Kelley Armstrong. She’s what I call a Hardback Author meaning that, even though I don’t like hardbacks that much, I just can never wait for the paperback to come out. Though this young adult series is coming out in paperback over here for some unknown reason that I’m not complaining about! If you’re curious, other Hardback Authors include Terry Pratchett, Karin Slaughter and Charlaine Harris for the Sookie series.
