1. If you’re on Goodreads enable sorting to your to-read shelf (you should see numbers next to each book now).
2. Go to Random.org and type in the Min as 1 and the Max as how many ever books are on your to-read shelf.
3. Scroll down to the book matching the number Random.org picks.
4. Link up to your Random Reads post.
5. Read and be merry.
So this sort of back-fired on me because it picked one of my review books! Still, it means it will get dragged off the shelves sooner rather than later. The fates have picked for me: Something of the Night by Ian Marchant.
Who can say what the night might bring? Mummy tucking you up with Teddy and a cup of Ovaltine? Fireworks and frivolity? A party? Music? Dancing? Or you could be reading in bed, between clean linen sheets before falling into deep and restful sleep and sweet dreams. And who knows; the night might bring romance, or love, or sex, if you play your cards right. Or you might be working; millions of people work at night. If nobody worked at night, Britain would cease to function. Or the night might be cold, haunted, inhuman and wild. When you look up into the night sky, you see that you are nothing. An insignificant mote of dust. Or the night could be all too human. Hen parties in skimpy dresses and fairy wings being slammed into the back of a police van; girls working on street corners in the part of town where the lights don’t come on; businessmen going to lap-dancing clubs to forget what waits at home. Or you could die. Most people do die at night. Or you could just lie awake and wait for the dawn. Set over the course of an intoxicated night in a house up a mountain in West Cork, Ian Marchant offers a darkly funny account of what people get up to at night, explores his own experience of a life of night times, and shows us how we all have something of the night about us.

You can also sort randomly on Goodreads. It makes it a bit easier than going to random.org. 😉
Those are just the rules of the meme, guess you can choose your randomness however you like though 🙂
That might be a good idea for me too … getting started on books that have been gathering dust for years *cough* I'm not joking!
Wait a minute – you've got 488 unread books!? You're even worse than me, woohoo! For the records I have 401 unread books right now, currently reading no. 402, to be exact. I wonder if I'll ever manage to drop below 400 because every time it looks like I made it new books roll in *sigh*.
Roughly, there are some on there I've given away but at the same time I know not every ebook has been listed! I'm a bit scared to do a stock check…
What a fun way of choosing a new book, I might try this next time!
fun idea! I like it.
Yeah that'll happen sometimes. It's nice when you end up picking the older books cause that's the point. But oh well. Thanks for joining in! 🙂

I did this for the first time this month, and it's such an awesome idea! I got so excited, I read my Random Read immediately.
I guess it did kind of backfire on you, but at least that's one review copy less to worry about 🙂
