Bout of Books Limerick Challenge

Bout of Books Read-a-Thon

It's day two of Bout of Books and I hope you're having fun. Or at least haven't succumbed to any readathon related injuries... For today's challenge, I'd like you to write me a bookish or bloggish limerick.

Our novels get longa and longa
Their language gets stronga and stronga
There’s much to be said
For a life that is led
In illiterate places like Bonga
H. G. Wells

A limerick is basically a 5 line poem, where lines 1, 2 and 5 rhyme and lines 3 and 4 rhyme, along with other rules that you may wish to break. You can read much more helpful tips on writing your limerick here. The sillier the better!

Your limerick will gain you an entry into the draw for a paperback novel of your choice from The Book Depository. Only those of you signed up for Bout of Books will qualify for the prize. It's INTERNATIONAL and ends tomorrow @ 00:00 CST (06:00 BST). Please link to your limerick in the linky list below.

Once you're done, don't forget to stop by Once Upon a Time and The Grammarian's Reviews who are also hosting challenges today.

    1. I don't know if you're trying to enter but that's not about books nor blogging and you need to add your link to the linky list.

  2. Thanks for such a great challenge! Have linked mine up (it's under the Tuesday part of my daily updates). Here's my limmerick:

For all those who love of a good book,
Whether it’s paper or on a nook,
The thrill of a great write,
Keeps us up late at night,
But we’re always glad we partook!

  3. Drat, just realised I typed a random 'of' in the first line!
    It should read:

For all those who love a good book,
Whether it’s paper or on a nook,
The thrill of a great write,
Keeps us up late at night,
But we’re always glad we par-took!

lol sorry, Jo @ Urban Fangtasy

  4. I am so not a poet :)

    There once was a book
    That had a huge hook
When I got to the end
    I wanted to hit send
    To everyone on my Nook

None of these will I ever deny.
So much reading and so little time
having a bad plot is a crime!
DNF! You are the weakest link, good bye!

The first book was very good
    The second starred robin hood
    I think I like funny

  8. Here's mine xD

Oh my God, you have so many books! they say
I look at my three little bookshelves, and for them I pray
First of all, there’s no such thing
And second, I wish I had the library of a king!
Fools! Don’t stare in shock at my treasures, go away!

  9. There once was a girl from Nantucket
Who carried her books in a bucket
    she wondered around
    trying not to be found
so she could read and tell people to Suck it.

  12. I put it on my blog and it was a lot of fun. I forgot how much I like to right things like this.

    Reading is what I do
    When I can't I cry boo hoo!
    When the day is done
I grab a book for fun
To escape to a world anew

  13. Eeeek... I am so not good at anything poetic but here's my shot.

When people really want to know
Why I read wherever I go
I say books take me to new worlds
And I become a new girl
But the hot boys are a plus side also

  14. Haha this was a fantastic challenge! Here's the limerick I was able to come up with:

My to-be-read list just keeps growing
While A.D.D. keeps me from knowing
How to sit in a nook
    And just open a book
I wish that damned bird would stop crowing

  16. Linked mine above, but here is my limerick:

Oh how I love, love, love reading
    There's nothing like stories enchanting
the soul and the mind and the dragons and the flies
one just has to give several tries
until we leave the world and our worries to enjoy our bookish fling!

Thank you for the fun challenge!

  17. There once was a girl named June
On her shelves she had little room
    So instead of a book
    she bought a Nook
but that was filled up too, soon.

  18. Oh man this was hard!!!! HARD!! Here is mine:
Here is the one I came up with:
Reading is like being on the moon
    Pages like falling stars
    Riding there on a balloon
From here I can see Mars
Wait, is that a reddish baboon!

Here is one my friends and I came up with while sitting here
    Reading is often misleading
    It leave the mind ajar
Like the smile of a Walmart greeting
    It makes life feel subpar
Life without a book has no meaning

    OK so I did two!

  23. To blog is like exposing your guts
To the curious people in their curious huts
We try to read, to do it all!
We will succeed! We will not fall!
We will always blog, because we must
