I may not have made it to any blogger events this week but I did get masses of lovely post. When I started blogging, I never in a million worlds would have thought I would get advance copies of my favourite authors' books. I was tempted to do a vlog this week just to fully express my joy at receiving Kelley Armstrong's new book!!! It's the start of a new series and I can't wait to dive in.
A couple of books this week that will count towards my Translation Challenge (I know, I've been slacking somewhat), What Lot's Wife Saw sounds like a fantastic post-apocalyptic yarn and Harlequin's Costume is a tale of Russian intrigue set in 1871.
The Scarlet Thief by Paul Fraser Collard (Headline)
Harlequin's Costume Leonid Yuzefovich (Glagoslav)
Ink by Amanda Sun (MIRA Ink)
The Desert of Souls by Howard Andrew Jones (Head of Zeus)
Omens by Kelley Armstrong (Sphere)
The Humans by Matt Haig (Canongate)
What Lot's Wife Saw by Ioanna Bourazopoulou (Black & White)
Shift by Hugh Howey (Century)
The Bone Season by Samantha Shannon (Bloomsbury)
Heartbreak Hotel by Deborah Moggach (Vintage)
Bought:
The Rising by Kelley Armstrong

Eek, I had better get reading! I also received a non-book-shaped parcel from HarperCollins this week, promoting The Shining Girls:
Remember these? The original 3D viewing experience. It's a bit tricky taking photos of the insides, but I think the double-exposure, blurry redness gives it a certain atmosphere.
Showcase Sunday is hosted by Books, Biscuits & Tea.
What an excellent haul, Ellie!!! I hope you enjoy all your reads! I'd love to see what's Harlequin Costume and Ink are about, and I'm keeping fingers crossed that my request for The Bone Season is accepted on Netgalley. I really want to read this book!
ReplyDeleteBloomsbury foolishly gave me auto-accept on there, although I think I've been pretty good at reading most of what I download.
DeleteCoooooool. That 3D thing's kinda intriguing. And kudos on getting your hands on the new Matt Haig, I'm very jealous!
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter honeybun, may your day include AT LEAST ONE of the following: hot cross buns/daffodils/Easter eggs/sunshine/chillin' time... If you can squeeze in all five, then so much the better. :)
The sun is out! It's an Easter miracle! I have the hot cross buns ready and considering a little potter on the beach :)
DeleteI love it when publishers come up with such original and fun ideas to promote a book. I loved the evidence bag for Cold Killing last week and this one is super creative too. :)
ReplyDeleteI LOVE those 3D slides! Wow what a great way to promote a book :) I used to have those slides when I was younger, a lot of Disney ones where you could see the whole film through slides, my favourite were Pocahontas and The Lion King :)
ReplyDeleteLove your haul, you got so many interesting books - I'm definitely adding a few to my wishlist!
Have a lovely Sunday,
Megan xxxxxxx
My Showcase Sunday if you'd like a look :)

Since reading 'Bitten' I'm desperate to read more Kelley Armstrong... got a lot of others on my TBR shelf to get through first though! Hope you enjoy yours. :-) Harlequin's Costume looks really interesting too. And I love that Shining Girls viewer thingy, what an original idea for book promotion!
ReplyDeleteOh my! I'm a little jealous whilst also simultaneously remembering why my incoming doesn't look like this. :D Good luck.
ReplyDeleteAnd omg yes I remember those AND the noise they made! I had a couple of Disney ones.
It looks like you've got some great books! Some of these books/authors are new to me. Ink looks especially interesting, I'm going to have keep my eyes out for it.
