The Month That Was... March 2013

March was a busy month on the blog with posts practically every day. I feel a bit more caught up with review writing now, although I am finding some books are resisting being written about. Sometimes I get to the end and feel the need to write everything down straight away and others just get forgotten about (although that doesn't mean I didn't enjoy the book). Anyway, I'm just going to go with it, and not force the reviews out.

According to my stats keeping (which are sometimes missing books) I only read 12 books in March but am still slightly ahead on my target to read 160 by the end of the year. I've been a bit distracted by work lately, which probably contributes to the lower figures. However April and May are bursting with amazing releases so I'm going to make an extra effort this month.

Here's what made it onto the blog...

Reviews:

5 stars awarded to: A Tale for the Time Being by Ruth Ozeki, The Machine by James Smythe, Poppet by Mo Hayder, Ketchup Clouds by Annabel Pitcher, Among Others by Jo Walton and Amity & Sorrow by Peggy Riley.

Disappointed with: Pretty Girl Thirteen by Liz Coley, Firebrand by Gillian Philip, Dancing to the Flute by Manisha Jolie Amin and Why Be Happy When You Could Be Normal? by Jeanette Winterson.

Read and awaiting review: The Demonologist by Andrew Pyper and The Crane Wife by Patrick Ness.

Blogged about:

As the new tradition, I started off with last month's reading and blogging update. Lloyd Shepherd stopped by the blog to answer my questions on his latest book and historical fiction. Yet more books were added to my wishlist, so many that it started turning blue. In response to yet more drama in the blogosphere, I gave my thoughts on how to experience a good blog tour. It's been a while since I participated in Top Ten Tuesday but how could I resist sharing the books I HAD to have but are still sitting on my shelf unread. March also marked two whole years of blogging about books, books and more books.

  3. That was a busy month!
I find it easy to write about books I loved or hated, the ones in the middle are trickier.

  4. It always amazes me how much people put into their blogs each month - when you see the whole list for a month down like that it's just so impressive! Congratulations on catching up with your reviews...I'm hoping to spend this afternoon writing a few for me to get up to date!

  6. Gosh I wish I could read as much as you do, I'm missing out on SO many great reads because even if I make the time I'm so slow!

Good month. Totally doing my first ever monthly roundup today. \o/

  7. You had a good number of 5 star reviews! Really nice.

I also tend to have some books that I never seem to write a review for and then after a while, I've forgotten too much about it to write something sensible. It happens!
