A fact about time, let's see ... oh darn it, I got no time for that now! Apparently my DNA package doesn't include this thing called "patience" (not to mention "time management") ...
ReplyDeleteHappy you're part of this hop, Ellie! Both books are right up my alley too.
Thank you for participating - both books sound good
ReplyDeleteHi, I just found your blog through the blog hop. Thanks for doing this :)
ReplyDeleteDid you know about the Factor V Leiden gene mutation? It causes your blood to clot faster than normal people's blood. People with Factor V Leiden mutation have a higher risk of getting thrombosis. There are special DNA tests to find out if you have got Factor V Leiden gene mutation but these are usually only performed if someone already had a thrombosis. That was the case with me.
Well, now I know and they tested my whole family (because it's in our genes!) and they all know they have it and we can live with it. It's not as bad as it sounds.
But people should be aware that when they travel long distance (e.g. on an airplane), it is better for them to wear compression stockings, drink a lot of water and move around a lot. You never know what's in your genes! ;)
There's a Japanese plant that has a genome 50 times as large as the human genome :) Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteTime flows in one direction.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the opportunity to win one of these books!
I am not really into DNA but I would love reading Time Warped :) A fact about time? Hmm, you can measure time differently when you have butterflies in your stomach :)
ReplyDeleteTime? Well it's wibbly wobbly, time is. Some might say.. timey whimey.
ReplyDeleteI like trivia about human genome in this youtube vid

DeleteThe faster you travel to the speed of light, the slower time moves from an outside perspective...so that means if one twin is an astronaut and decides to tour the galaxy at 90% the speed of light, only 6 months will pass for him, while for his twin on earth 50 years will pass!
ReplyDelete(The numbers are made up but the idea is true!) :-)
DNA was actually discovered by scientific investigation in a National Park.
ReplyDeleteI know that males have 1 Y chromosome and 1 Y , while females have 2 X chromosomes. I remember learning that in Biology a few years ago. Thank you for your giveaway. "The Violinist's Thumb" sounds like a real good read.
