About

Curiosity Killed the Bookworm was started in March 2011 as a place for me to post random thoughts that sprang into my brain whilst reading. I read a bit of everything but lean towards fantasy (the shorter kind), science fiction (especially literary, that's not an oxymoron) and young adult. I do like finding time to read a bit of translated fiction and enjoy narrative non-fiction on topics that intrigue me.

A good book is a good book no matter the genre.

So yeah, this isn't a crime fiction blog, though I get a lot of people asking me to review their crime/mystery/thriller book. It's not that I don't read them at all, but they're not my go-to thing and I'm starting to find them a bit samey. The title is a lot more to do with the fact it's hard to find a book where no one dies or they're not mourning an off-page character before the story even begins! This is even true of those books with pastel covers these days.

I live by the sea in Bournemouth on the south coast of England. I pay the bills by breaking apps (software testing) which currently involves watching the same bit of telly over and over again. Sometimes I even get to the end.

When I'm not reading or blogging, I also like photography, baking, ponies, faffing around on the internet and dinosaurs. I'm trying to learn to knit and crochet (slowly). I'd add walks by the beach but then it sounds like a dating profile... I am mostly known as patchworkbunny around the internet.

You can find me on Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram, Goodreads, Flickr and My Independent Bookshop.
