20 Books of Summer is hosted by Cathy @ 746 Books.
How is it time for 20 Books of Summer again? I did terrible on the challenge last year, I’d like to blame my thyroid for sabotaging me. Now I’m back in work, I’m not really making the time to write up my thoughts on books either, so this might be the kick up the proverbial backside I need. If not, well it’s an excuse to make a list, right?
I’ve rounded up most my unread purchases from this year for this, plus a few pre-orders I know I won’t want to wait to read and topped off with some books that you’ve probably seen on my TBR lists several times already…
🎧 Means I’m intending on listening to the audiobook version.
A House with Good Bones by T. Kingfisher
This Delicious Death by Kayla Cottingham
The Memory of Animals by Claire Fuller
Weyward by Emilia Hart
For the First Time, Again by Sylvain Neuvel
The Sentence by Louise Erdich
More Perfect by Temi Oh 🎧
The Night in Question by Kathleen Glasgow + Liz Lawson
Yellowface by Rebecca F. Kuang
The Mystery at Dunvegan Castle by T.L. Huchu 🎧
The Seven Year Slip by Ashley Poston
Love, Theoretically by Ali Hazelwood
The Shadow Cabinet by Juno Dawson
The River of Silver by Shannon Chakraborty
Light from Uncommon Stars by Ryka Aoki
Midnight by Amy McCulloch 🎧
The Society for Soulless Girls by Laura Stevens
House of Odysseus by Claire North
Remarkably Bright Creatures by Shelby Van Pelt
Beach Read by Emily Henry
I feel like this is a good mix of genres and enough light and easy stuff so I have something to pick up whatever my mood. I haven’t been reading a ton lately, so the 20 books in 3 months is more of a challenge than it has been in recent years.

I really enjoyed both Beach Read and Remarkably Bright Creatures. And I want to read both YellowFace and Love, Theoretically.
I also have This Delicious Death on my TBR, along with several other horror novels! I think I have 3-4 horror books on my list because I am the leader of a horror book club. I’ll be blogging about the challenge over here: https://grabthelapels.com/2023/06/13/20booksofsummer-2023/
