AKA Showcase Sunday
Yes, I know, I have already reviewed The Long Earth so the paperback edition will be going onto the giveaway pile shortly. Whilst The Selection was full of flaws, I kind of enjoyed it so I requested the sequel, even though I sure I’ll be cursing myself if it has a similar ending. I also received a book in an alley this week and it wasn’t even World Book Night! I have been meaning to read Dorothy Koomson for ages though so it was a good alley encounter (and one of her books is on the tellybox at the mo too).
The Rose Petal Beach by Dorothy Koomson (Quercus)
Sword and Scimitar by Simon Scarrow (Headline)
The GI Bride by Iris Jones Simantel (Penguin)
The Elite by Kiera Cass (HarperCollins)
The Long Earth by Terry Pratchett & Stephen Baxter (Transworld)
Bought:
Crossing the Line by Katie McGarry
The Mystery of Mercy Close by Marian Keyes
I also picked up my World Book Night books! I’m giving out The Eyre Affair by Jasper Fforde which looks lovely and co-ordinated with the green spines this year.
Showcase Sunday is hosted by Books, Biscuits & Tea.

The cover for The Elite is gorgeous! I tried reading The Selection last year, but I couldn't get into it. I really enjoyed Crossing the Line, though. I hope you like it.
I'm glad you had a great time at LBF, I loved your post about it and enjoyed all your tweets – as someone who couldn't go, it was great to hear snippets about what was going on! 🙂
Great haul Ellie, I LOVED The Rose Petal Beach so hope you enjoy it :)I'm hoping to re-read The Ice Cream Girls this week after seeing the first part of the TV adaptation 🙂
Happy Sunday 🙂

Great haul, so many good looking books! I hope I get Elite on NetGalley. 🙂
Happy reading!
My books!
You are braver than me with The Elite, Ellie! I've enjoyed The Selection despite myself, but there was just too much eye rolling for my liking, plus her main squeeze was such a spectacular jerk… SO I decided against continuing. Great choice for World Book nights by the way! Enjoy all your reads! 🙂
I remember it got slated and that there was some sort of author drama…but sometimes I like things that I know aren't very good 😉 Still, it looks like it's one of the most requested titles on NetGalley! I sem to remember not liking to boy she lived and quite liking the prince, or whatever he was, we'll see what happens…
Wooo! A fellow book WBN giver :D. I'm really excited for it.
Awesome haul.
My Showcase Sunday 🙂
Oh I much prefer the cover for The Elite than The Selection. And yay WBN! I wanted to give this year but I hadn't read any of the books (don't worry, I do own Eyre Affair I just suck is all) so next year! 😀
As for Dorothy koomson, I've seen looads of hype on the Quercus Twitter but I know nothing about her. What sort of fiction does she write?
I think she's a bit like Jodie Picoult but British and less focussed on family issues. I met her last year and was all "I haven't read any of your books yet but I'm pretty sure I own some" oops.
Ahh righty! Shall check her out some time then. 🙂
Wow! I'm a giver for WBN – and I picked the same book as you!! I adore the Eyre Affair and I plan on pressing it on to the people at work who don't read on Tuesday…I'm planning on bribing them with cakes as well! 🙂
Ooh, The Eyre Affair is high on my list of To Reads – great choice for WBN! By the way, how do you get involved as a book giver? I suppose it's too late for this year, but would love to do it next year. 🙂
Hope you enjoy all your books and have a fantastic week!
Applications usually open a few months before, they are chosen based on various criteria; location, who you plan to give to, and partly how quickly you apply.
Thanks! Will check it out next year then. Hope you have lots of fun giving out the books! 🙂
I am desperate to read The Selection series! I hope you enjoy The Elite 🙂 The Eyre Affair looks great too. Happy reading!

I own so many Marian Keyes books but I have yet to read a single one of them. Saving them for a rainy day, or maybe they'd be good summer reads. Hope you enjoy all your new reads!
My Showcase Sunday!
I really enjoyed Marian's book! (The Brightest Star in the Sky is still my all time favourite but TMOMC might be my favourite Walsh family book so far) Hope you enjoy.
