If anyone is still having problems commenting here, please let me know via social media. When I moved hosts, a cache plug-in self-installed and caused some problems with Jetpack. I think it’s sorted now, but it’s hard to tell as I wasn’t able to recreate the error myself.
I forgot to mention in my last check-in that I’ve succumbed to yet another social media platform and you can now follow me on Bluesky. I still like Mastodon a lot and ellie.social isn’t going anywhere but Bluesky does seem to have more of a Book Twitter feel. I’m sure someone will ruin it eventually though!
Scully has got a bit tubby over winter and is on reduced rations, the worst fate ever for a Labrador. She is getting revenge by yawning or closing her eyes in every photo I take. Can’t wait for better weather when we can go on longer and more interesting walks, and she can start eating normally.
Paws and Portals is inching closer to a publishable state. I’ve asked for some professional feedback, so hopefully it won’t be a case of it needing extensive rewriting because I don’t think I have it in me! I also have a cover I like… I’m so indecisive about it, but I think if I keep showing people I’ll have to stick with it, right?
I’ve tentatively put my name down for Wyrd & Wonder whose theme this year is “comfort zone”. I’m hoping once the book’s out there I’ll have more energy for blogging and can do some fun posts. Maybe I can also draw some fantasy creatures other than squirrels Ratatoskr…

Review: Your Blood, My Bones by Kelly Andrew
Books read:
[ARC] Your Blood, My Bones by Kelly Andrew
See review above.
- ATY # 7. A book with a pronoun in the title
- Popsugar # 9. A book by a Deaf or Hard-of-Hearing author
[ARC] A Letter to the Luminous Deep by Sylvie Cathrall
I found the faux Victorian formal letter writing style to be a bit hard to get into, and all the letter writers had exactly the same voice. So I didn’t find it particularly romantic, but I thought it was an interesting world and I liked all the fake marine biology observations.
- Popsugar # 47. A book with 24 letters in the title
Killers of a Certain Age by Deanna Raybourn
The present day parts about the retired assassins trying to avoid being assassinated themselves was amusing but the flashbacks were a bit boring. An easy, fun read though.
- ATY # 49. A book with a senior citizen character
- Popsugar # 27. A book where someone dies in the first chapter

Poor Scully. Reduced rations is always something to complain about, lol.
I only had trouble commenting the one time but I figured out a way around it. I’ll let you know if I have any more trouble.
I’ll have to check out Bluesky. I haven’t even heard of it, but if it’s like Book Twitter, then I’ll willing to check it out.
Oh, Scully, that is a very sad story. Poor mistreated thing, having snacks limited is such a cruel fate. (Cute photo, though.)
Hoping you enjoy that Wyrd & Wonder event, too — looks like fun!
