I sort of spent most of the week playing Banished, so not a huge amount of bookish updates this week. I did post a review of This Poison Heart and made some progress writing draft reviews. It’s hard to believe I used to review every book I read without fail!
On Sunday’s walk round Stanpit Marsh, I spotted a fox and it did the whole circling thing that dogs do before they settle down to sleep. I’m not sure what it was doing sleeping right out in the open, but it was a good reminder how foxes and dogs still share common behaviour.
Last week I read Afterlove by Tanya Byrne, which made me cry. It’s about teenage grim reapers, but also about love, loss and being young in Brighton.
Today saw my first 2022 review copy! Had to remind myself it’s only August.
New books acquired:
[gifted] The Justice of Kings by Richard Swan (Orbit)
[gifted] Cosmogramma by Courttia Newland (Canongate)
As Good as Dead by Holly Jackson (ebook)
Every Line of You by Naomi Gibson (ebook)
In Praise of Walking by Shane O’Mara (ebook)

I love that you include photos of your dog! I miss ours and wish we had another one, but it just isn’t a good time to have one.
Hah, it’s probably because 90% of the photos I take have her in, even when I don’t want her to be sometimes. Often, her bum. I would miss her so much, she’s so weird, she’s irreplaceable.
I need to give Banished a go. I have it, think I even installed it, and heard it’s a really nice chill kinda game which is perfect for low energy days. ^^
