Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.
I am usually very stubborn about not doing my best of list until the very end of the year, but I can’t see myself reading a lot more this week, so I’m going to risk it.
I’ve not been a very consistent blogger this year, so I was surprised that eight out of ten of these actually have reviews posted. I feel in 2022, I should at least aim to review anything I give 5 stars to…
Anyway, onwards! Here I give you my favourite reads of 2021.
Black Sun by Rebecca Roanhorse
Black Water Sister by Zen Cho
Migrations by Charlotte McConaghy
House of Hollow by Krystal Sutherland
I didn’t get round the reviewing this because I didn’t really know where to start. Dark, disturbing, young adult horror – I wasn’t expecting what I got but I LOVED it.
Firekeeper’s Daughter by Angeline Boulley
The Galaxy, and the Ground Within by Becky Chambers
A Master of Djinn by P. Djèlí Clark
The Library of the Dead by T.L. Huchu
The Forevers by Chris Whitaker
I really intended to review this but just never got round to it…maybe in the new year?! Beautiful cover, beautiful story, it’s Deep Impact crossed with On the Beach for young adults. What do you do when you have no future because a planet killing asteroid is heading your way?
The Last Graduate by Naomi Novik

I thought Migrations and Fire Keeper’s Daughter were both amazing reads.
Firekeeper’s Daughter is on my list as well. It was such a great read!
I loved Black Sun and Firekeeper’s Daughter is also on my list. A friend recommended Black Water Sister, I will definitely be reading that. Thanks for the recommendations!
Curious about migrations, believe I have read your previous recommendation about it but sadly can’t find it at our library. But I’ll keep on checking!
I hope you can find it. I think she’s getting quite popular in the US now, so hopefully that will filter through elsewhere. I just read her new one about wolves which was pretty great too.
Wolves! We just got them back in our country, wild wolves. Would be good to read more about.
I’m so curious about Black Sun!

I love Becky Chambers. I hope to read more of the Wayfarers series next year.
House Of Hollow and Firekeeper’s Daughter are on my TBR list, so I hope I love them as much as you did.
I have Black Sun and Firekeeper’s Daughter on my TBR cart for next year. I really want to get to them!! I still need to read Becky Chambers too! I have the books but haven’t touched them yet. lol. I did really like Master of djinn!
Sadly, I have not read any of these but the covers are amazing. One of these days, I might read a Becky Chambers book just because I like to read more sci-fi.
Have a lovely day.
What beautiful covers on pretty well all of those! I am still waiting but I have at least two books I think I will get finished which look really good …
Thanks for turning me on to some books I haven’t heard of yet.
Great list! So many of these are on my TBR. Firekeeper’s Daughter is probably the one I’ve seen on the most lists this week.

Firekeeper’s Daughter is one of my priority reads for 2022!
Yay for House of Hollow! I’ve had Black Sun on my TBR so I’m glad to see its one of your favorites!
Oh, I have a few of these on my Wish List to buy, I definitely need to get cracking and read more in 2022!
I am usually very stubborn about not posting my list until the last minute too, but this year decided to do it early. Had it prepped this weekend and wham! I had a book to add and that threw everything out of whack. I am so glad to see Black Sun on your list. I bought a copy of that one from my local indie store on a whim but haven’t gotten to it yet. Several of the other books on your list are also ones I want to read: The Graduate, The Library of the Dead, The Galaxy, and the Ground Within . . . All of them really. This is such a great list! I hope you have a great reading year in 2022!
These covers are great! The Firekeeper’s Daughter sounds really interesting. Happy New Year!
Firekeeper’s Daughter is the only one I’ve read so far from your list but I agree that it’s fabulous!
Awesome list! Black Sun was amazing:-)
House of Hollow was such a pleasant surprise. Great list!!
Black Water Sister, House of Hollow and Migration have such lovely covers! Great list here and thanks for visiting my TTT!
I have Black Sun on my shelf and need to read it soon, it sounds amazing!
House of Hollow slipped through a couple of monthly TBRs for me, so I still need to get to that one, but I really enjoyed Black Water Sister.
None of these are books I read, but I do remember a couple of them making ALL THE ROUNDS at their release as ones bloggers and readers were excited for. Glad you found some in 2021 you really enjoyed and yay for having the reviews! It’s always fun to discover you were more organized than you thought. 🙂 Appreciate you visiting Finding Wonderland this week – thank you!
The Schoolmance books sound good, I liked Uprooted so really need to read some more Naomi Novak!
Great list! I loved Black Sun and The Galaxy, and the Ground Within and I’d really like to read A Master of Djinn and Firekeeper’s Daughter.
I’ve never seen that cover for A Master of Djinn, but I absolutely love it! I really need to read that book, too. Here’s to hoping I can get to it this year.
