AKA In My Mailbox
A restrained week for once. I had a request on Read It Swap It come in and the swapper had Virals by Kathy Reichs. I was a bit unsure about reading this before but I’ll give it a whirl. Her adult books have gone downhill recently so will be interesting to see what her young adult writing is like.
The other book is from newbooks magazine, The Panda Theory by Pascal Garnier due to be published by Gallic Books in March. I know I have said I’m not sure if noir is my thing but there’s a toy panda in the blurb so I had to give it a go.

In My Mailbox is hosted by The Story Siren.

I didn't get anything this week and that's fine with me! Too much to catch up on 🙂
Thanks for stopping by My IMM earlier!
I've only ever read one Kathy Reichs book and thought it was pretty good, but I've avoided the mass-market paperback tables in bookshops ever since I had to build up the bloody things when I worked for Borders. They cause vivid, Nam-like flashbacks…
I've mainly been attracted to Virals because of my love for Bones, and I'm fairly sure I have a copy of it (somewhere) on my bookshelf. I'll be interested to see what you think of it!
Also, thanks so much for stopping by my blog and leaving such a well thought-out comment! Those are always much appreciated! 🙂
Have a good week!
I read Virals a little while ago and didn't like it as much as I thought I would. Mainly because I thought it was about werewolves when it wasn't! I spent about two thirds of the book waiting for something that wasn't going to happen. But other than that it was pretty good 🙂
Oh it's annoying when that happens! I'm pretty much expecting a mini-Tempe, it's not like the adult books have been very taxing recently.
"Virals" is adorable, if just because of the "Bones" connection. I think you'll enjoy it – I know I did. 🙂 Enjoy your haul this week!
My IMM this week!
I can't get into Kathy Reichs' adult books. Probably because I love the TV show Bones so much and then when I read the Bones books, realized they were NOTHING like the show and it just… yeah. No bueno. It's so weird that I prefer the show over the books, but I find Reichs writing style odd and stilted. I tried to read Virals, but never got past the first chapter. I hate when the characters introduce who they are to the reader. Let us learn who they are!
Heh… sorry for writing a novel in your comments. happy reading!

It is always good to try new books. Hope you enjoy the two you got this week.
I didn't know Kathy Reichs has a YA novel out! I'm a fan of Bones so I feel inclined towards reading Virals, but then again, looking at the comments about how different the television series is from the book series… Fingers crossed. I'll wait for your review of it, though, or at least a few sentences about what you think of it. Enjoy your haul! 🙂
