To celebrate the Paris in July blog event, I have a copy of Anna Gavalda’s Breaking Away (English translation) to give away to one winner. Open internationally and entry via Rafflecopter at the end of this post.

July has crept up on me and I thought I was unprepared but fortunately, I’d lined up some French reading earlier in the year. I also have a few films left over from last time. I would still love to feature some French inspired recipes so if you have some, or are promoting a cookbook, please get in touch!
Someone I Loved – Anna Gavalda
Bed of Nails – Antonin Varenne
Three Strong Women – Marie Ndiaye
The Panda Theory – Pascal Garnier
The Girl on Paper – Guillaume Musso
Films:
A Very Long Engagement
La Vie en Rose
P.S. If you’re fluent in French please forgive my crudely translated post titles. I pretty much know how to read a French menu and that’s it!

You've given me an idea for a couple of blog posts for Paris in July – Somewhere I have a translated and, I think, shortened version of Escoffier's cookbook so I could post about that and I also have a DVD of Julie and Julia which came with a mini-cookbook of French-inspired recipes. First I must go and sign up for it all….
I look forward to following your participation in Paris in July! 🙂 And thanks for the giveaway opportunity…I thoroughly enjoyed Hunting and Gathering by Gavalda last year and look forward to reading more of her work.
I hadn't heard about Paris in July, it sounds really good, not sure if I'll have time to join in. I'm not entering the giveaway as I have a copy of, and have read, Breaking Away by Anna Gavalda, I liked it a lot, great choice.
So glad you are joining us again this year Ellie!
I'm so looking forward to your posts during this event — and the opportunity to enter your drawing! Thanks for stopping by The Marmelade Gypsy — isn't Paris in July wonderful?
Last Christmas by boyfriend's Dad bought me The French Menu Cookbook by Richard Olney. It's a gorgeous book and really well regarded but far too technical for my abilities. The recipes state things like 'please make sure all your peas are uniformly spherical with a diameter of 1.5cm'! I think for July I would love to take part in this blog event but will be sticking with something a bit easier, a croque monsieur perhaps (realistically it will probably end up being a 4-pack of croissants from Greggs!)

Ah, Paris. I could do with a bit of Paris right now. Maybe I'll watch Before Sunrise and Before Sunset again.
